This training course is an online course that covers the Mikrotik RouterOS firewall. This 1 day session
is a detailed introduction to firewalling concepts using MikroTik RouterOS. It offers extensive hands
on training where you get a chance to really work what you're learning.
Why you should attend this training?
Butch has been in the business of teaching end users about the MikroTik product since 2004.
Butch Evans is the first trainer ever certified by MikroTik to present training on
their product and was the first to develop a full training course on this product.
Butch has been in the ISP business since 1994 and his extensive experience comes
through in the training presentation. The core of our curriculum has been in development since
2004, so the presentation material you will see has been tested and proven to work well
for both the student and teacher.
We offer a private training as well, either online or in person. If you'd like more information
on that option, please call or visit the private training information
page HERE.

- How to document your firewall
- Understanding network traffic
- Protecting your router from attack
- How to translate between "iptables" and RouterOS Firewall rulesets
- Understanding the different types of firewall applications
- Designing and using NAT in your configuration
- Troubleshooting your firewall application
- And more!!
EXTENSIVE hands on labs are included.
Who Should Attend:
This training is targeted toward network administrators, integrators, managers and others who wish to gain
a better understanding of firewalling concepts in general and firewalling with Mikrotik RouterOS
specifically.
Prerequisites:
An understanding of networking concepts is required. Attendees should have a good understanding TCP/IP and
understand network communications basics (ARP, Broadcast/Unicast concepts). While we do cover network
communications in some detail, attendees will gain much more from this course if you come into the course
with this background.
(We have a course available HERE that will teach this if you're not familiar with these concepts.)
Course Length:
Approximately 7 hours (Includes LOTS of hands on training)
What you will need
The training course is offered via a web conference and a toll-free dial in teleconference (for the audio).
We use Webex for the web conferencing and they recommend either Windows XP (or higher) or Mac. I have found
that MOST functions work with Linux, but cannot guarantee functionality if you choose to use Linux (I know...
I use Linux myself.) Each ticket purchased will permit ONE connection to the conference resources (dial-in
teleconference). You will need to set up a way for all attendees at your location to view the web
conference AND listen in on the teleconference. For the labs, each user will have access to a router at my
training center, so each student will want to have access to a PC for the labs. It is not required that
you have a MikroTik Router available for this course, but many students have commented that having local
routers for testing would have been beneficial to them.
Where and When!
Refer to the Butch Evans Consulting homepage for
dates and times of available courses. You MUST enter the start date for the class you are interested in
attending in the comment section of your order. Please list the names and email address of all attendees
in this section as well.
